Unique Ways to Announce Your Pregnancy
By Kim Seidel
Sometimes the reaction of a husband astonishes the mother-to-be more than a pregnancy test. Sheri Menelli of Carlsbad, Calif., was 20 weeks pregnant when she heard two heartbeats at her midwife's office. Though her belly had been growing especially large, she was shocked to learn she was going to have twins.
Menelli didn't quite know how to tell her husband, Ron, about the double discovery when she returned home. She started by telling him to sit down, because she had something important to talk to him about. He knew she had seen her midwife that morning, and he could tell from his wife's tone that the news wasn't horrible. He guessed immediately that they were having twins. "He didn't even sit down," Menelli says.
Ron's brothers and two of his cousins are identical twins, so Sheri says Ron instinctively knew about his own twins on the way. The couple's twin daughters were born this winter.
