Solutions for Taller Moms-to-Be!

"We design fashionably classic clothing that is physiologically functional," explains White. "When designing our clothes, we look at the latest fabrics and fashion trends and then adapt them to create more classic garments that women of all sizes can wear well. We try out the styles on women of all body types and get their opinions before releasing a new design."

Her favorite items? "Our denim jeans! They are made of stretch denim and they feature the Ok waistband – an exclusive waistband design that Japanese Weekend developed to grow with your pregnant body and cradle the belly while providing excellent back support," White says. "I also love our 'Hug' underwear – camisoles, bikinis, briefs, bras. They are made of a super-soft and comfy fabric that hugs your body, and they feature the Ok waist, too."

We asked Favale her opinion about the Japanese Weekend jeans. "I absolutely loved them!" she says. "The waistband really is comfortable."

Robert D'Amour, head designer for babystyle, says he designs all of the babystyle items to flatter the pregnant form, regardless of height and size. To achieve this, he uses fabrics that provide enough stretch to allow for durability, recovery and washability. Our current favorites are 2-way stretch twill, stretch denim, cotton with Lycra and poplin with Lycra.

Babystyle also offers items in various lengths, says D'Amour, such as the Custom-Fit Jean and the Double-Stretch Pant in multiple lengths to accommodate the longer inseams of taller women. "These are great because I get to see my designs on the women who are buying them, and I have the benefit of speaking directly with the consumer. We also enjoy great feedback from our online shoppers in the form of customer comments." D'Amour's favorite picks are the Double-Stretch Pant, the Custom-Fit Jean and the Satin Pant. These are all super-flattering basics! "We also have an entire collection of pieces in easy-care matte jersey that are great for work to evening versatility," he adds.
