Heading Toward the Finish Line
Pregnant and Loving It
By Carilyn Platt
rious people, I must admit that I was not only overwhelmed but also petrified at the thought of going shopping on my own.
It turned out to be painless, thanks to her help, and we picked up everything I could possibly need from the sweetest smelling shampoo to the perfect diaper wipes. When I got home and started washing all of the goodies accumulated from the baby shower and our shopping excursion, I was once again overcome by just the sight of all of those little onesies in blue and white and little hats and tiny socks. I could hardly believe that in just a few more weeks, I would be dressing my little baby in these adorable things.
On a more humorous note, I got the biggest chuckle one night when I realized that after years of over-packing for vacations and trips, I even over-packed for the hospital. I started out with a fairly small tote bag and then moved to a larger duffel bag, which now contains a couple pair of pajamas, robe, slippers, socks, toiletries, an outfit for me to wear home, a change of underwear for my husband, much more, and of course, an outfit for the baby to wear home. From what I've packed and the size of the bag you would think that I was going on a trip for a week. When you're used to being organized and doing things a certain way, I guess it's best to be as prepared as possible, since the entire delivery is so unpredictable. Now if only I could know exactly what day I will deliver.
