Passing the Pregnant Time

5 Things to Do While Waiting for Baby

By Shel Franco

Pages:  1  2  3  4

Get out and date your partner again. Leave little love notes around the house. Send romantic emails and text messages. Take a long-overdue vacation if you are medically cleared to travel. All of these ideas will help you feel connected, supported and loved by the person you need most before, during and after childbirth.

You have 40 weeks to fill. Work obligations, other children, doctor's appointments and the occasional shopping trip for baby supplies will take up some of that time, the list of tips above can constructively fill up the rest, but as with anything, there is a disclaimer:

"While the temptation to complete our lists of things can be compelling, burning yourself out with an endless to-do list may leave you feeling more depleted then prepared," Dr. Hassan says. "What women really need are rest and a sense of peace and well being. Your list will never end – either before or after the baby arrives – so it is good practice to learn how to address your priorities and limit the amount of 'shoulds' before your baby arrives."

With less 'shoulds,' there is more time to enjoy all the wonders of being a mom.
