Romance during Pregnancy

Take Time for Each Other Before Baby Arrives

Romantic Moments

The following tips will help you keep your love alive throughout your pregnancy and into the baby years:

  • Give one another massages with warm oil. Heat the oil in hot water until it is a comfortable temperature, and rub each other's feet and back with it. Almond oil is wonderful for this! For the grand finale, have your husband rub your stomach with smooth, circular motions. (Heaven!)
  • Sprinkle your bedroom and bed with rose petals, and, as an added twist, sprinkle your tummy with petals. Remember that laughter is the basis of romance!
  • Send each other e-mails during the day. Jen Singer, a stay-at-home mom and author, says just reminding each other that you're thinking of one another is a nice treat when you're so focused on getting the nursery ready and preparing for childbirth.
  • Leave little notes telling one another what a great parent they are going to be. Sign them with one of the names you have been discussing for the child.
  • Buy each other cards and gifts for no reason. You deserve a little something for hauling around an extra 30 pounds, and he deserves something for the big changes coming in his life!
  • Get into the habit of going out alone a couple of times a month. It doesn't have to be a fancy restaurant. If money is tight, remember that taking a walk together can be just as romantic as a more expensive date.
