Organizing the Baby Shower

Organization for a Memorable Shower

By Jessica Williams

Pages:  1  2  3

Games, cake and gift-giving time need to be planned accordingly as well. Typically, the shower begins with games and then moves onto gifts and cake. Shower games are often the highlight of the event because they create a fun atmosphere for the group. They're a great way to break the ice and help guests get to know one another.

When gift opening starts, be prepared to write down the gifts that are given along with who they were from, or delegate someone to do this for you. It can be very difficult for a pregnant woman to remember who gave her what, and she will appreciate the list and may want to keep it in her baby book as a remembrance of who attended the shower.

Planning a shower should be fun for the hostess, not a chore. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to organize this special event, and most importantly, remember that your positive attitude and caring spirit will set the stage for a memorable shower for your honored guest.

Recording Memories

Should someone videotape your shower? Just as you would like a record of your new baby's first birthday, a video of your baby shower can be a wonderful addition to your precious keepsakes of your transition into motherhood. Looking back on this special time in your last trimester can be fun for both you and your child 10 or 15 years down the road. If a video doesn't appeal to you, be sure to designate someone to take photos. This is a special time in your pregnancy that should be remembered.
