Bellawear Nursing Apparel
Innovative Fashions for the Breastfeeding Mom
By Gwen Morrison
Pontillo, whose background is in nursing and psychology, has worked as a pediatic nurse for 17 years. "Since I work in a hospital, I have a lot of resources regarding breastfeeding, and I would like to see Bellawear expand to provide more information about breastfeeding to women," she says. "One of my goals is to start a foundation one where we can utilize space in the hospitals for the sole purpose of giving parents who have sick kids there a place to go to de-stress and re-group."
As a nurse, Pontillo believes strongly in helping people in giving back and in giving of herself to others. Having worked with children who are suffering from serious life-threatening illnesses, like cancer and kidney disease, Pontillo has acquired a greater appreciation for the fragility of life. "I see great sadness mixed with hope and tremendous faith every day," she says. "I want to be able to give back to the community."
It is Pontillo's plan to support those in need by donating a percentage of sales to the organizations she feels are truly helping people. Currently, she lists at her online site the three organizations she plans to support with the sales of her nursing wear: The Riley Casey Trust Fund, Make A Wish foundation and a new foundation called Modest Needs.
