My Makeover By Belinda Clarke
On a recent visit to Los Angeles to visit relatives, I paid a visit to Diane Gardner for my own postpartum makeover. My second son, Wilson, was just 14 weeks old at the time, so I was feeling pretty rough, needless to say, and in need of a serious beauty boost. When I arrived, the first thing Gardner did was take my hair out of the clip in which it had been held prisoner for the last two years. Gardner's solution? To bring my hair length up to just below my chin by lopping off a good 5 inches. "Most importantly, you want your face to be the center of attention, and a chin-length bob does a great job of putting your face in the absolute middle," Gardner told me. She also admonished my bleachy highlights, which were growing out ungracefully and instead recommended some modest high-lift tint highlights in three warm colors: gold, blonde and copper. Lastly, she created a natural look for me with her enormous cache of Chanel makeup that is not only easy, but actually affordable since she only used a few products. Her recommendations created a pretty "non-made up look" that I can create every day with the option of increasing the amount I use for nights on the town. Her product and pplication suggestions for my medium/fair skin tone were: - Tient Naturel Liquid Makeup in Soft Bisque Applied everywhere (not on the neck!) to smooth skin and minimize shine.
- Quadra Eye Shadows in Myster籠 Applied by following the curve of the eyeball going no higher than the eye socket. Also, for a pretty highlight and to "open" the eyes, use a light shimmer shadow just under the arch of the brow.
- Precision Eye Definer in Blue Jean Applied directly in the bottom and top lashes starting from the outside, moving in.
- Silky Cheek Colour in Be-Bop Applied under the cheekbone first, this soft, shimmery powder gives a sheer, luminous glow.
Glossimer Lip Gloss in Spark The perfect color for everyone, this gloss can be used all day long in place of lipstick.
