Only One Baby Shower?
Two Moms and an Expert Share Their Thoughts
By Harmony Cornwell
When a baby is the focus of the baby shower, each new addition to a family should warrant one. "It's a way to meet the new little one, gives people a chance to get together and socialize and give a small gift to the new baby," Chapman says.
Being invited to a second shower for a friend or co-worker and not agreeing with it is not the opportunity to explain why they should not be having any more showers, though. Instead the invitee can politely decline the invitation and send along a thoughtful card or note sharing in their excitement and congratulating the mom and dad on the pending arrival.
In addition to the one shower rule, Collachi adds a few more of her no-no rules of etiquette for baby showers:
- Never throw yourself a shower. Chances are one of your friends or family members will play the part of hostess for you, but don't take it upon yourself to put your own celebration together.
