Making It a Happy Arrival

After the baby is born and all the excitement over the event settles down you might find yourself overwhelmed. The intense demands of a baby can take their toll on even the most dutiful mom. Lack of sleep, changing hormones and new responsibilities can make this time wrought with fear, depression and isolation.

Here are a few ways to make this time a cherished experience in which you find fulfillment and inspiration:

Staying Positive: It's easy to feel negative. "I don't have anytime for myself." "Why is this so hard?" "I'll never amount to anything." "Nobody can advise you out of your feelings," Graham says. "Your feelings come from what you wrap your thoughts around. If the thoughts are negative and sad, your feelings will stay negative and sad. If your thoughts are positive and happy, your feelings will be positive and happy."

Sounds easy, right? But how can you put these ideas to work? Graham recommends maintaining an active control on how to think. "There is a choice to be made moment by moment, thought by thought, to change what you are focusing on and what you are thinking," she says. "To quote Dr. Wayne Dyer, 'Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.' Make a commitment to change your thoughts and thus change your feelings." Graham also recommends inspiring works, like The Power of Intention CD by Dr. Wayne Dyer and Dorothy Hulst's As a Woman Thinketh.
