6. Guilt-free Veg Time

Some women adopt a scaled-back version of their usual regimen throughout pregnancy. Some maintain an obsessively feverish pace until their obstetricians order them to lie down. The good news is that, wherever you fall on this scale, being pregnant gives you – especially in today's fast-paced, crammed-schedule, go-go world – one of the few modern justifications for simply taking it easy. Relaxing on the sofa in the middle of the afternoon to absorb some brainless reality TV? Not pregnant, it's a good bet you'd hear that little voice inside telling you that you should be doing something of value, something productive, something meaningful. Pregnant, you'll receive compliments from half the neighborhood congratulating you on being good to yourself.

7. Pregnancy Style, No Longer an Oxymoron

Today's pregnant women have one incontrovertible advantage over yesterday's: a diverse range of fashion choices. As recently as two decades ago, the sartorial spectrum of pregnancy started with moo-moo prints and ended at moo-moo solids. Then Demi Moore appeared pregnant, naked and beautiful on the cover of Vanity Fair, and designers jumped on board faster that you can say "bare midriff." In the current environment, there's everything from shirts to skirts, pants to pumps – though still, thankfully, those elasticized waistbands.
