Baby Shower Favors

Homemade and Budget-friendly Ideas for Baby Shower Favors

Of all the events in a woman's life, there is perhaps nothing as joyous as a baby shower. Something magical happens when family and friends come to celebrate the approaching birth of a new baby. Decorations, treats, presents and favors help create a festive atmosphere, but in today's economic climate people are looking to cut costs without cutting the fun.

The cake can be made at home, the decorations bought at discount stores and favors, the gifts the hostess hands out to guests, can be either made at home, or purchased for very little.

Favors are a sweet way to show appreciation to all the guests who have attended.

Cathie Filian, a crafting expert and host of Creative Juice on the DIY Network, says that favors are a sweet way to show appreciation to all the guests who have attended. "They are a popular choice for party hostesses because they will make each guest feel welcome and appreciated as well as be a keepsake and reminder of the special event," says Filian.

According to Filian, baby shower favors should be given to each guest (including the mom-to-be) and are generally priced between $2 to $5 each. "The favors can have a baby theme such as chocolate baby booties or be something completely different like a small hand lotion or a home mixed gourmet tea," says Filian. "Handmade favors could be completely made like making homemade cookies or you can doctor up something that is store bought. The favors can be tagged and ribbon tied in coordinating colors to the shower theme."

Awesome ideas. Love the wine idea. Just because the mom-to-be can't drink doesn't mean you can't give grown up gifts to the guests. Really like that idea!

I am hosting a baby shower for my best friend's daughter. Never thought much about the party favors. Was more worried about food and games. This really got me thinking about baby shower party favors. Have some ideas and can't wait to see if they work out! Will pop back here and let you know.
