I have struggled with Crohn's disease and arthritis since I was diagnosed as a teenager 15 years ago. For years I was told not to conceive due to the powerful immunosuppressive meds I always needed to maintain my health. Now, a specific med exists that allows me to have children of my own.
After receiving Remicade for several months, I was able to get pregnant. We are so thrilled, but the hard work doesn't stop there. I am currently unable to work due to my health issues. It's probably a blessing, considering I have two to take care of now! I am having a normal pregnancy! I have never had a normal life, but my baby is normal. No matter what a woman suffers from, there is always a possibility she can have a healthy baby.
I still continue to have problems of my own, which sometimes require me to take pain medicine, but the baby seems untouched. Sometimes I have to make decisions about keeping my health up so I can stay healthy enough to nurture the baby. God is looking out for my child, who seems unaffected by my problems.
If you have health problems or a high-risk pregnancy, it is possible your baby is untouched by your troubles. Take care of yourself, eat right, sleep well, pray hard and surround yourself with support. Everything else will resolve itself!
Please feel free to contact me for support if you have health problems with your pregnancy. I will always be a source of support and empathy. No one is ever alone in spite of how lonely a journey it may seem!
