Ana Abraham, a mother of two from Wesley Chapel, Fla., felt she had to get out and get a job when she was pregnant with her first baby. "My husband had lost his job as a programmer," she says. "Everything bottomed out. Neither one of us had a job so I had to look. I was 6 months pregnant when I got the job. I tried to hide it during the interview."
While some jobs require manual labor or may expose a pregnant woman to harmful chemicals, etc., Abraham worked as a software development project manager. But during the interview, she was asked whether she planned to have children. Experts say prospective employers should not be asking questions about your family or personal life during an interview. She was honest and said, "Yes."
Its hard. I am in Nairobi, Kenya and was confirmed my 2nd pregnancy a day after I was laid off. I have had a series of job interviews over the 1st and 2nd trimester and now that's its showing headhunters say 'no thanks' but that I make a very good candidate and should get in touch with the company next year, obviously after I deliver.
