She didn't even tell her husband at first. After two definite miscarriages and month after month of disappointment, Kathi Johnson of Gainesville, Va., still finds it hard to accept that this pregnancy will hold. "I always wanted a large family," she says. "But at 31, the clock is ticking."
Only when blood work confirmed the pregnancy did she tell her husband. A few days later, however, she began spotting. "I was frantic, thinking 'here we go again!'" But after a week of light spotting, repeated blood work and ultrasound confirmed she was still pregnant and everything was fine. "I was overjoyed, but didn't want to tell anyone yet." Another two months went by before she finally announced the news.
It's typical for women to be extra cautious as they enter a pregnancy after a miscarriage. |

Pregnancy is an emotional experience for many reasons, but when a woman has experienced miscarriage, these emotions can be overwhelmingly difficult. Instead of joy and hope, there is fear, guilt, sadness and, for many women, isolation.
I just got 2 positive pregnant test results after 2 miscarriages in the past few years. I had some fibroids removed and my thyroid is regulated now. We are hoping for the best. Good luck to all of you!
i am trying to get pregnant again after a 2 miscarriages a year ago. the first miscarriage i was about 8 weeks my second i miscarried at 12 weeks. As anxious as I am I am also scared and nervous. Even considering not telling my husband til after the first ultrasound which my dr gives after the first trimester. I am taking care of myself more just to conceive and continue for a healthy pregnancy
I am experiencing most of what was mentioned in this article. I miscarriage at the end of March at 8 1/2 weeks pregnancy. I had one normal cycle and then became pregnant again. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and am very conflicted. I feel uncertain and reluctant about this baby. That makes me in turn feel guilty for not investing in this pregnancy emotionally as I did with the other 3. I am trying not to overanalyze my symptoms but want to welcome them in order to get some peace of mind that I am actually moving forward with this pregnancy. Who would have thought this would be so heart-wrenching, but I rely on my faith in God and the support of loved ones to help me through this emotional roller coaster.
Thanks for the previous advice but I have a question: Is it possible to get pregnant immediately after or during miscarriage?
