My husband and I started trying to have a baby in August/September of 1994.That was a month after we got married. I was hoping to be expecting at Christmas to give my family a great gift. It didn't happen. I wanted to give my parents their first grandchild. That didn't work. My brother married a lady with a 3-year-old daughter. I kept trying to give them their first natural grandchild but my brother and sister-in-law had a little girl two years ago. The day I found out that she was expecting I just started crying and couldn't stop. My mom looked at me and said, "You need to go to the doctor and see if something is wrong."

I was afraid, so my husband went to a doctor. He had a little problem but it wouldn't keep me from having a baby. So I got up the nerve and went to the doctor. I found out that I did have a problem and that fertility drugs would work. I got pregnant a month later. My mom was so excited – she looked like a crying Tigger.

That one only lasted six weeks, and I had a miscarriage. I didn't have a D&C at the time because they said I had a total miscarriage. We went on vacation to get our minds off it. I believe in all my heart I was having a little boy as I look back on it. We wanted a little girl.

My husband and I wanted to try as quickly as possible again. My doctor kept putting it off. Well, a few months later I started bleeding really bad. I went in to the doctor and I hadn't had a total miscarriage. I had a D&C done. My mom said that I could have been carrying twins. My doctor couldn't do the operation because of a family problem, so a new young doctor did it. My husband and I just loved him to death. We waited seven months and went back to him.
