About three weeks ago I found out I was pregnant, and when I told my 4-year-old daughter, she was absolutely ecstatic. She had been pleading with her dad and I for a "baby sister" for about a year now, so to her this was a wish come true.
Well, to make a long story short, I found out a week later that I had a blighted ovum – which means that the baby never started to develop, and I had a miscarriage.
I did not know how to tell my daughter – we were devastated. When we finally told her that "her baby" was not coming to stay with us after all, she said, "Sure she is. I will always be her big sister. Not only did she go back to live with Jesus, but she moved into my heart as well!"
What wisdom! She made us feel so much better about everything, and we love her and "her sister" with all of our heart.
