Tea for Two

An Afternoon Tea for Mom-to-be

Afternoon tea is not just for the English anymore. People everywhere have started getting together for a "cup of tea." It's a great way to relax and spend some quality time with your girlfriends or mom. During pregnancy, it is a fabulous way to have a nutritious mid-afternoon snack!

The consumption of caffeine during pregnancy is a controversial subject. While small amounts of caffeine are considered safe, put your worries to rest and serve decaffeinated tea. Small, dainty food should be served with the tea. Bite-sized sandwiches, called "tea sandwiches," are usually served first, followed by pastries and then fruit.

Afternoon tea is not just for the English anymore.

While pregnant, afternoon tea should not be overdone. Tea should not be substituted for water, juice or milk, which are beneficial to you and your baby - especially water! If you like the idea of having afternoon tea, but don't want to serve tea, try lemonade or fruit juice. The beverage you serve is not as important as the quality time you spend with your friends!
