This is my story. I began my journey into motherhood at the young age of 19. I married young (too young, which is why that marriage didn't last). However, I was ready to start a family. I effortlessly conceived my first two children and delivered both by C-section.
Now, fast-forward six years. At the age of 25 I remarried (a wonderful man, by the way) and we soon wanted a baby of our own. My two other children were excited about having a little baby around and we all hoped it would happen soon.
Well, it didn't. After two years of not conceiving we decided it was time to visit the reproductive endocrinologist. He determined I had a lot of scar tissue, or adhesions throughout my abdomen (which explained the pain I had when I stretched a certain way). The adhesions had wrapped around my fallopian tubes, and around my uterus – everywhere. I was a mess.
After surgery to remove the adhesions, we tried two IUI's, or intra-uterine inseminations. They didn't work either. The next medical procedure determined that one of my tubes was blocked on the inside and the other was partially blocked. At that point, we knew IVF was going to be our only option.
