I remember when I first found out that I was pregnant. It had never dawned on me that I would be a mother any time soon. I had been off the pill for two years and hadn't gotten pregnant despite the fact that my boyfriend and I weren't really trying to have a baby, nor using any other form of birth control. We had been together four years and we both had decided that we may not be able to make children. It's usually normal for me to skip a period, and sometimes go months without one, so I never got excited when I missed. I just enjoyed not having the hassle of menstruation.
Usually when I miss I buy a pregnancy test and as always, it's negative. So I just decided to stop jumping to go to the pharmacy to buy them. It was June when I first missed, so I said that once I started to have morning sickness I would go to the store. Here it is in August and still no sign of the monthly deal. By this time I was constipated and my stomach was so bubbly. I thought that maybe I needed a laxative, so knowing that I could possibly be pregnant I bought an enema because it was the only thing that would give me fast relief and wouldn't hurt the baby if I was.
And of course my boyfriend would really get a kick out of helping me with the process of using it. At the same time I said what the heck, the test is only $6. Most of the time when the test is negative it never goes through the first frame. There I was on the toilet shaking after urinating on the stick, and I watched the little pink line go through the first frame. It was positive. Now here I am only any day about to deliver my little girl. Next time if I miss, I won't wait three months to buy a test!!
