Well, my husband and I had just moved into a 100-year-old house in the beginning of March. We are in the middle of remodeling, so children were going to be put off until a few more years and rooms were complete.
The week of July 4th, I thought I had a horrible case of PMS. I was crying all of the time, which is totally unlike me. Pregnancy was the furthest thing from both our minds though. By the end of the week, I decided for safety's sake, to try a pregnancy test.
It was a Friday morning, one I will never forget. Sitting there, expecting a single blue line, I instead see two very clear blue lines! I woke my husband up by poking him in the head with this stick test (yes, really) and saying, "Will you look what we have done!" His first reaction was this terrified look and an "I'm sorry?"
I took a second test to be sure and we both stood there looking at both tests in total awe. Believe it or not, I actually took a third test at work to be sure. I just could not believe it could happen – we call it the immaculate conception. We are thrilled now, but those first few weeks were wild! I am now in my 4th month and completely excited, as is my husband.
