Trying to Conceive with Diagnosis of PCOS

Short Stories About Trying to Conceive

I had never had regular periods. At age 18 I was rushed to hospital with an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. From then on it was one problem after another. I began birth control pills (BCP) at 18 and since I was in college, and then working on a career. I never thought much about my fertility until at age 34 when I married the love of my life. We both decided we were ready for children.

I went off BCP right after the wedding. We visited my gynecologist the month after the wedding to let him know of our plans and my history. He started with blood work and then onto a transvaginal ultrasound. WOW!! It looked like a string of pearls in place of my right ovary and my left ovary was "hiding," just couldn't get a clear picture. After a few questions about my struggle with being overweight, excessive hair issues, irregular periods, etc., I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have been on Glucophage and Advandia to help "get the ball rolling" and added Clomid to induce ovulation. I took Clomid for three months with progesterone level readings of 85.7, 55.5 and 17.2.

Now I am waiting for the next step. It's been a little over a year. We're hopeful and it helps to visit sites like this to hear about others in similar situations.
