As most new parents can agree, having a baby in the home causes a whirlwind of
activity, and normal household routines get changed a great deal. The last thing
some may consider doing while having a baby is getting an education. But that's
just what many parents are doing, for a variety of reasons.
Courtney Hans, a mom who recently finished earning a degree at the University of California, Davis, earned her degree while pregnant and then having an infant at home. "I had my daughter, Gabriella, in week seven of a 10-week quarter," she says. "I missed one week of school and then was back to finish the quarter and take my finals. I completed the second year of the program with no problem, sometimes taking my daughter with me to study groups/group meetings."
One way to help balance books and Baby is to see what type of on-site childcare options are available at the school. |

What helped Hans get through the program, infant in tow, was having a good support system in place, both at home and at school. She found the faculty, staff and fellow students to be very supportive.
I was surprised at seeing the picture above...but pleasantly surprised!! is nice to see these kind of websites being realistic about mums and parents. Being a mum doesn't mean you have to be squeeky clean and have no tattos, no peircings and not have your hair dyed, lets be realistic, it'd be like saying you weren't allowed to be a mum if you had tattoos...now thats harsh!!
No, she probably got her "sleeve" (the term for this kind of tat) at one of MANY local tatoo shops, DOH! What rock have you been hiding under, Anonymous? And what does tatoo ART have to do with mothering? Don't be a bigot, catch up with the times, dude.

"gee mommy where did get all those tattoos? From you time in the Navy at Subic Bay, Philippines?"
Balancing baby and college is tough. I just started my freshman year a few weeks ago and have a 5-week-old baby. My tip to anyone doing this is to let people help you! If they offer, take them up on it.
