My name is Tiara Edwards and I am a teenage mother. All through my pregnancy I heard a lot of horrible stories from adults. So as the end came near I started getting scared and was ready to get it over with. My daughter was due October 12.
Around the 10th I started to get anxious and excited at the same time. My friends and I walked to the park that was about a mile away. They started joking like "What if you go into labor here?" All of a sudden I felt some sharp pains in my vaginal area and I couldn't walk. The pain soon went away and I continued having fun with my friends. I started feeling "mild cramps," which I later found out were my contractions. So these "mild cramps" went on for a day and a half.
I finally told my mother that I was having period cramps and that they kept coming back. An hour later they started lasting longer and I started feeling the urge to push something. So we finally went to the hospital and almost didn't make it. Her head was almost out in the car.
The doctors picked me up and carried me into the hospital. They didn't know what was happening because I seemed so calm to be 9 1/2 centimeters and the baby crowning. As soon as I lay on the bed I pushed two glorious pushes and out came Amari. I was thankful for my blessed 10-minute delivery and couldn't wait to take her home.
