Amy H's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 22, 1999

Greetings, all!

Well, Saturday and Sunday were emotional days for me. The Squidge was sooooooooo quiet that I couldn't help getting nervous again. I make myself so upset over nothing! I think my biggest fear is that my emotions and assumptions will cry wolf one too many times, and then when something is REALLY wrong I will write it off to my paranoia.

Please, don't get me wrong. I know I sound like this is all I think about and it isn't. It just helps to express my fears in this diary and then to talk with others who have either felt the same way or can offer advice. I really appreciate it!

DH and I just bought a great book called On Becoming Babywise. Its basic philosophy is to help couples *welcome* their child into the home as opposed to being run over by baby. It is about being 'family centered' rather than 'child-centered.' I just started reading it and it sounds wonderful!!!!! I know of many people who have read the book and applied the principals and have nothing but great stuff to say about it. As you acclimate the new baby into your life and routine, baby should be sleeping at least 6 hours through the night by 5-7 weeks! And, then 10 hours by about 2 1/2 months!!! Thank God! This also seems like a good book for families with two working parents. I mean, when your family truly becomes a team, I think it will be easier for kids to adjust to mom and dad being away all day....

Anyway, I am excited to get through the rest of the book and then have DH read it.

Well, The Squidge is wigglin' again and I need to go and eat breakfast!

Blessings,

Amy H and Squidgey Ian
