32 weeks!!!!!! 31 January is only eight weeks away!!!
I had a great appointment yesterday. I am finally not gaining gobs of weight all at once (yippee!), and my kid is so active that the doctor had a hard time getting in a good listen to the heartbeat for any length of time. Everytime she found it, he would move! I like the sound of that!
Our Prepared Childbirth Class (PCC) was interesting last nite. We watched a video with three different birth exeriences on it. When it was over, our instructor had us all squeeze ice in our hand for 2 minutes to show all of us what two minutes of pain is like. Damn, 2 minutes is a looooooong time! It also gave me a Braxton-Hicks contraction!!! She made us then squeeze the ice in our other hand for two minutes, but we were to talk with our coaches in order to distract ourselves (the coaches were squeezing ice as well).
It was a great experience to figure out what helped me relax and 'ignore' the pain. I discovered that I liked to concentrate on breathing in and out, and to listen to OTHER people have a conversation. To be able to concentrate on following other people as they talk really helped me to be distracted. I think that maybe I would like to have a movie on, or be listening to music that I know all the words to when I am in labour. All I know is that ME trying to have a conversation was just not swinging it!
Jon has really been helping me get organised lately. I feel a lot more relaxed and able to handle what I need to be doing. We have decided that Mondays will be "packing" days. This means that ONLY on Mondays am I allowed to think about packing and doing anything about it. Basically, I am getting our non-essentials ready. You know, knick-knacks and linens and stuff like that. The less I have to do and think about with a newborn attached to my breast the better!
I have been thinking about the fact that the baby we lost would be about three months old now... I wonder what he would have been like (DH and I think that he was a he). It is also hard to believe that this is technically my third pregnancy. Wow. I can't wait to see THIS kid...
Well, I need to get going and have some lunch. Oh! Next week I am gonna send in a photo of my pregnant self :o) I hope it amuses someone...
Blessings,
Amy H and The Kid
