Amy H's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 15, 1999

33 weeks! 7 to go! Come on 31 January!

For your amusement, I have included a couple of photos this week. I wish they had come out better, but the are the best I have :o)

I cannot believe there is only a month and a half left to this pregnancy. It just blows my mind that I have already set up all the rest of my appointments up 'til 1 February. I mean, it all seems so organised and final! And scary to boot!

Amy Pregnant The Kid, as you may have noticed I now affectionately call him, has been moving more and more as the days go by. He will be awake for a good seven hours straight some days. With all my past worry that he didn't move enough, I now sometime wish he would just chill so I can relax. What a difference a few months make!

As we speak, Jon is out at the local fire department having our car seat installed by people licensed to do it. He is so concerned about the Kid's safety that he refused to install it himself since he could have people trained to do it, do it for free. He is going to be such a great and loving dad.

We did the hospital tour with our PCC last night. I didn't know what to expect really -- it is the same hospital where I delivered Lydia and had to leave her for the adoption counselor. But, since it was six years ago and they have just remodeled everything, it was a completely new experience. Nothing looked at all familiar so Jon and I experienced it together.

We all had heaps of fun looking at a few babies in the nursery. One baby was all wrapped up in a blanket, one was sleeping nude and casually sunning herself under the heat lams, and another girl was quite a little strong-willed woman! She would be lying on one side, wiggle, then sort of spastically "shiver," and roll to her other side. We were all fascinated by this. Our instructor told us that newborns don't have their nervous system worked out so they sometime spaz and look like they are shivering. She also said that the movements they make are basically the same ones they made in-utero. I guess that explains the occasional really really fast movements the Kid makes every once in awhile.

Oh, and I have caught the Kid hiccoughing a few times! It is sooooo weird! Jon felt it, too, and thought it was neat. Then, this morning as I was cuddling him in bed before getting up, he felt the Kid kicking him in the back- tee-hee! It was cool.

Amy Pregnant Oh, for anyone who may have forgotten -- go read Eloise's first diary entry in BabiesToday!!! What a mind-opening experience!

Well, I will run along as this entry has run on!

Love yas!
