33 weeks, 6 days
About six weeks to go! But after my doctor's appointment today I don't know if I'll make it until my due date. I told the doctor that my c-section scar has really been hurting and I wondered if there was a way to tell if it was already thin. I have been hoping for a VBAC, but I don't want to risk rupturing. My doctor said that ultrasound isn't an accurate predictor, but after he pushed on my scar in a few places and I was having obvious pain he said we would do an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that I hadn't already ruptured, but it wasn't showing how thin the scar was. The doctor wants me to come in next week for a follow-up. I asked him what his opinion was regarding the VBAC. He said he will know more after next week. He also mentioned taking the baby early, but he said it's too early at this point. Thank goodness! I'm not even at 35 weeks yet! I want to make it to April 1st at least. One bit of good news is that the doctor said we are definitely having a girl. I guess I won't be spending my maternity leave returning little pink outfits.
Brendan was with us for the appointment. He got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. He was amazed. He also loved the ultrasound. Since the baby is so big at this point, he could pick out her arms, hands, and fingers. Now he wants to listen to her and puts his head on my tummy. I think he's disappointed that it doesn't sound the same as when the doctor was using the doppler.
I found out that my co-workers are planning a small shower for me on March 23. I think it is so sweet. It's going to be just a small group of us, since we generally don't have showers for second babies. I was really touched. I just want to get together and EAT! There are several other pregnant women who will be there so it should be really fun.
