Becky's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 27, 2003

Last weekend my sister came to help us paint the baby’s room. I took Friday off to finish cleaning out the room and spackle the nail holes and wipe down the walls, etc. I was going to be all ready by the time she came Friday so we could hang out and have fun Friday night.

On Thursday, I was getting some stuff out of a closet that is off our stairs. Clutziness really runs in my family. Once I had all the stuff I needed, I stepped from one landing to another landing (3 steps apart) in one big step and landed on the side of my foot. OUCH! My husband was at softball. So I sat on the couch with an ice pack, and when he got home I told him to go get the Ace bandage from the first aid kit upstairs… only we didn’t have it any more. Then we remembered we had used it up (well, it had been chewed up) when our dog had stitches and we needed to cover the wound. So he had to go get me a new one from the store.

So, keep your first aid kit stocked. :)

Anyway, I recovered in a couple days but spent most of Friday on the couch, so my sister had to help with all the preparations. Sara and Jason did get the whole room painted, yellow walls with white trim, and it looks great! Now I just have to put up the wallpaper border (a beautiful Noah’s ark themed one) and we’re shopping for a cheap carpet remnant in the right color (light blue).

I’ve begun buying maternity clothes. I have no one close to my size I know who’s been pregnant, so I’m pretty much buying my own stuff. I figure I’ll hand it down to my sister some day, so it’s worth it. I went to Motherhood Maternity with my mom on Monday (day trip to the Twin Cities for me) and found some cute stuff, but it’s all for fall/winter. My belly is just beginning to be rounded, so I’m trying to get by with some of my looser summer stuff until it gets cooler. I did find a good pair of “transition” jeans at Target tonight. My sister will be happy, all the stuff in my size is too long, and she’s taller than me.

Oh, and we got a used Pack ‘n Play for only $25 tonight. (In very good condition, and not recalled.) Now I’m on a mission for a white crib (probably new).

Counting down… 2 weeks until the ultrasound!
