Only a little over 4 weeks until D-Day!!! I cannot believe how soon we are going to meet our little boy! Tommy and I are beside ourselves with excitement!
I have a terrible case of insomnia. I am averaging about 4 hours of sleep a night - broken sleep I might add. Reminds me of the first, oh, three years or so with Liah. She was one non-sleeping child. It takes me until well past midnight to fall asleep, I get in a couple of hours, wake up in the middle of the night for some mundane reason (money worries, moving worries, having a new baby worries, you name it.... and everything is always so much worse at 2 or 3 a.m.) Then it's another two or three hours before I fall asleep again, only to have Dylan come in the room bright and early waving his sippy cup in my face going "Mummy... I want mick (milk)". If this is nature's way of preparing me for a newborn again, it's not very nice! The "sleep when the baby sleeps" theory will not work when Jay gets here as there are two other little ones that really are not old enough to be left unattended. Baby Jay is at the stage where his kicks and turns hurt, and he particularly likes the wee hours of the morning to do his gymnastics.
I am feeling somewhat better since my kidney stone episode and short hospital stay. I am just really really tired. But all in all, I am healthy and Jay is healthy, and for that I am thankful. I really just can't get over the fact that he'll be here in less than a month!
Our lease on our apartment expires at the end of February. I have put hundreds of miles on the van in the last couple of weeks looking for a house for us to rent in a decent subdivision with a good school district. We currently live in a 3 br. apartment in an upstairs unit. I am ready to quit climbing stairs! And the elementary school that Liah is zoned to go to next fall is far from the best in the area, so... I hate house-hunting and moving. It's just plain hard work to find just what you want at just the right price. We filled out a credit app on a house yesterday that I would love to rent. It has 4 bedrooms, a seperate den, living room, dining room, and eat-in kitchen, a 2-car garage... the works. It's got nice-sized bedrooms and is on a corner lot, in the perfect school district. And all for only about $50 a month more than we're spending now for our apartment. I hope I haven't found it too early, though, as we will have to pay a deposit on it, as well as part of January's rent, all of February's rent, plus the rent on our apartment we now have for the month of February. The property management people said they would "run the paperwork and see what we could do". Have I ever mentioned in the past that I am not a good waiter? Well, impatience should be my middle name. I know there are other fish in the sea, but I had to go and get my heart set on this particular one. Wish me luck!
At my last prenatal on Dec. 30th, I had lost a pound or two due to a complete lack of appetite while I was in the hospital and the week or so following. The Dr. told me no more dieting, lol. He was kidding, but did say that he wanted to see a decent weight gain by my next visit on Jan. 14th. I just find it hard to eat much of anything right now because I am so full so quickly. There just doesn't seem to be any stomach room in my tummy! My BP was on the low side, and my uterus measure right on track. There was still a little blood and protien in my urine from the UTI, but it was not too bad. So, I am on the mend and Jay is doing wonderfully. After my appointment next week, I will be seeing the midwife weekly (and surely will remind her at each visit that I'm ready to be induced as long as all looks good, lol!)
We were fortunate enough to be able to have all of Tommy's kids for the entire week after Christmas - they did not have to go home until New Year's Day, and how nice it was to have the time with each of them! We were such bums on New Year's Eve... we had originally planned on getting together with some good friends and all the guys were ready to watch football bowl games together. But, the flu and pnuemonia hit the kids of some friends, and it all just kind of fell apart. We didn't even stay up until midnight to see the ball drop. I know Tommy enjoyed the time with his kids though; he misses them terribly. It makes me sad for him that he is not able to have the time he wants them. They are simply growing up and everybody is busy.
I hope everyone is doing well, and may you all have a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
