Cara's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

February 22, 2004

3 1/2 weeks old

Jay is just amazing. What a sweet sweet baby we have! I am absolutely in love! Right now, he is still on 0-3 month clothing, although some of those are already beginning to be too short for him. We had received a couple pairs of little soft baby "shoes", and he was never able to wear them because his feet are soooo long. He get that one from his daddy. Tommy's dad says he has a "good understanding" or a "good foundation", lol.

He is doing little baby smiles, although I'm not sure if they are real smiles or those little nursing milk smiles or gas or what. But they're awfully cute regardless.

Jay is also a grunter. As he's beginning to wake up, he goes "uh, uh, uh..." until he's fully awake and then he goes from 0-60 in 5.2! This child wakes up HUNGRY and boy, does he have a set of lungs! He nurses like a champ and right now eats every 2-3 hours. I'm going to have to put him in his crib in his room soon though, so that I can sleep a little more. I tend to pick him up and nurse him at the first grunt at night, and I think it's encouraging him to wake too often to nurse at night. He would very likely go back to sleep some of these times if I were not there to scoop him up at every little peep.

I took Jay to see Tommy's parents this weekend, and he was a huge hit! What love our families have - we are very fortunate.

Speaking of families, I would like to ask that you keep my family in your prayers. My mom's dad passed away Wednesday night as he succumbed to terminal cancer. He originally got sick about 8 months ago, but received treatment and went into remission. The cancer returned just a few weeks ago, this time with a vengance, and consumed him very quickly. My mom and dad made it to see him only hours before he passed. While they were in Montana planning my grandpa's services and such, they received a call that my dad's mother suffered a severe stroke, and they had to fly in to Pennsylvania to be with her. She was just recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure and had been moved from the hospital to go to a nursing home. She will not recover from the stroke and is only expected to live a matter of days now. If you follow my diary, this is the grandmother that I went to visit in November. We were very close and I will miss her terribly. However, she has lived for 15 years now without my grandpap, and I know that she will be happy to join him in heaven. I am just so saddened by this turn of events. My poor parents to each lose a parent within the same week of each other. How difficult it must be for them individually, plus trying to support each other. I ask that if you're inclined, to please keep my parents and their families in your prayers.

No further news yet on my diary moving, but if you read and I'm not here, please look for me on either a moms today or babies today diary.
