Cara's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

July 19, 2003

Well, I am just beginning week 11 of my pregnancy today. I am really beginning to feel better. I'm so glad that the nausea is beginning to fade - it is such misery to feel sick all the time.

Tommy took the afternoon off with me the other day and we went to Babies R Us. Such a cool store when you're expecting! We looked at strollers and car seats, cribs and pack-n-plays, baby carriers and bath stuff... and I really enjoyed all of it. We also went to Books-A-Million and bought a baby name book. I think we have decided that we will pick a name for both a girl and a boy and that we will not tell anyone what it is until the baby arrives. No hurt feelings then! I don't know of anyone that will tell you they don't like your kid's name once they see pictures of the sweet baby! We have also joked about what a beautiful baby we will have made together, just based on how gorgeous the children we already have are! (Not that we are vain or biased or anything like that... lol!) We also went to Wal Mart and bought Dylan a toddler bed. We stole the crib from him and he needed something to sleep in! He was always a great sleeper, but he's started waking at night again, and we are TIRED. (And I think we're tired now... just wait...)

I should be seeing the Dr. again sometime the first week in August. They didn't have August's calendar available when I checked out last time, and I keep forgetting to call... The doctor's office here offers 3D ultrasounds, and we plan on having one done around weeks 16-18. You can bring a videotape and they will record the baby for you. I have seen pictures of these ultrasounds, and they are just truly amazing!

The day care that I am working for has proven to be really tough work! I am used to spending my days behind a computer screen, and I have to say that's what I really enjoy. Working my brain rather than my body and my patience was much much better. I am teaching a class of 8-14 month olds. We have seven kids; three of them are biters. Every day, parents pick up their kids and there are little vampire marks on their arms or faces. It is impossible to catch them each time! For every bite that is left, there are five times that many that we've prevented. I am ready to pull my hair out, though... I know how ticked I'd be to pick up Liah or Dylan at daycare and see they'd been chomped on two or three times in one week. It makes me feel incompetent, and I hope that the Director of the daycare puts forth a policy that these children will not be allowed to return if the biting continues.

My house in Warner Robins should sell sometime this fall/winter. With that said, Tommy and I are considering trying to buy a house here or in north GA (we are only 5 minutes from the GA border) when our lease is up next spring. If that doesn't pan out in time, we will most likely find a house to rent rather than an apartment. We live on the 2nd floor of our apartment building. I can't fathom how I'd be able to lug all three kids up and down the steps every day. Dylan is just now learning to navigate the steps going up, but he still has to be carried down. Throwing a newborn into the mix is just not going to work! The baby is due mid-February, and our lease is up at the end of February.

I am going to TRY to upload a picture of Tommy and the kids and myself at Rock City... we'll see if it makes it with this entry.

Until next time,
Cara
