I know that I have probably said this with each and every entry, but I am still astonished with how quickly this pregnancy is passing for me. It is hard to believe that in less than just four months, we will have Baby Jay in our arms. Amazing.
Tommy is now able to feel Jay kicking on a fairly regular basis. His kicks are stronger and stronger by the day - once in a while he gets a good one in the bladder or somewhere else that makes me suck my breath in. But it's just all so wonderful. I am still in awe that we are having a baby together!
I know I've been absent for a couple of weeks, but we now have a new digital camera and a new computer, as the old one just decided it didn't really feel like working anymore. Let's see if I can remember what I was supposed to update!
Our second ultrasound went beautifully. We attempted to take Liah to this appointment, but she was having no part of it; all she wanted was to go to school and be with her class. But, I wasn't going to force her. Oh, well. Jay is growing like a weed. It was funny; I laid down on the table and the sonographer squirted the warm gel on me, then put the transducer to my belly, and immediately this little baby penis pops up on the screen! She moved the wand really quick, I assume because she hadn't yet reviewed our chart as to whether we knew (or wanted to know) the sex of the baby. After a few seconds, she goes "So, did you want to know if it's a girl or a boy?" It was just so obvious - even to the uneducated in the appearance of ultrasounds. I told her that last time we were there we were told it was a boy, then asked her if that was still the case (lol). She kind of breathed a sigh of relief, and said, yes, we are definitely having a boy. Everything checked out just fine. Jay is growing right on target, and my placenta has slowly migrated up and does not appear that it will be a problem at delivery. The presentation is still considered a "footling breech" as he was laying exactly the same this time as he did last time around. I'll not worry about this until I'm into my ninth month. What a bummer it'd be to have a c-section on my third baby; but, whatever it takes for a healthy baby...
I still feel really good right now as far as my pregnancy goes. We learned that we will not be moving "home" as we had hoped. I am disappointed, but I imagine that God made this decision for a reason. Whatever will be, will be. We have made some good friends here in Chattanooga, and family is not THAT far away, so things could be worse. Our lease is up at the end of February, and the baby is due the 14th of that month, so I am fairly sure we will be moving then. We will most likely move just across the border to GA, as the schools are better just over the state line. It will also allow us to be eligible for GA's free pre-k when Dylan and Jay are ready. Because we are not moving, we made the decision that I would go back on the sub list at work. Liah is still going to her pre-k class full time, and Dylan is staying home with me (except for days that I sub, then he comes along and goes to his regular class). Liah loves her class, Dylan loves having time alone with mommy, and I am loving catching a little bit of a break for a couple of months before Jay arrives. We are going on vacation to spend some time with our families at the end of this month, and I am really looking forward to it. I think that Tommy and I are going to go alone to his parent's house for a couple of days, and it will be nice to visit with them and relax in the relative peace of not having Liah and Dylan with us. It will also be nice to not have to work during the upcoming holidays. I have ALWAYS worked full-time, so this is something new for me, but I am really enjoying myself so far.
Right now, Dylan has a sinus infection, which we got antibiotics for a couple of days ago. However, I am almost sure that as of today, he also has an ear infection, as he has cried and held his right ear the majority of the day. We've been relatively lucky with Dylan and ear infections, though, so I am not really complaining. He's already on the antibiotic, and I've given him Tylenol and some warm oil drops in his ears, and have also used a warm rice heating pad on his ear today, so hopefully he will be feeling better soon. I'll be doing well if I can keep Liah from getting infected. She is on her third set of tubes and has had an adenoidectomy also. She was a sick girl for about a year and a half there until I found a wonderful ENT who treated her. The first ENT she had did very little other than nod his head every couple of months that, yes, she was still infected, and then pump her full of daily medications. It was ridiculous. But, now I'm way off tangent...
Tommy took a couple of days off last week and we went to visit with his kids and my dad. My mom was out of town. We saw Ashley in the musical "Oklahoma!" and we watched Miranda in a softball game and then cheer at a football game the next night. Ashley is a wonderful actress and also sings beautifully - I really miss seeing her in all of her plays. And Miranda is a senior this year, and we are reminiscent for her already that in just a few short months, all of this will end for her. She really enjoys her high school sports, and I know she'll miss it terribly once she graduates. My dad and Tommy and I also took the kids to a local pumpkin patch and picked out some little pumpkins for them to paint, as well as took some pictures there. There's some pictures posted from las week at our website at www.babiesonline.com/babies/h/hewittfamily/ if you'd like to check them out. Now that we have our very own (!) digital camera, I promise that I have belly shots on the way. Better late than never I suppose.
Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll talk to you soon!
Cara
