Time is marching on! Baby Jay is just so sweet and cozy right now, I am looking forward to the holidays, and life is good!
It was such a relief to me to find out at the 3D ultrasound that Jay is head down. My midwife had told me not to worry, as I've had two kids that were not breech and had wonderful deliveries with them. Well, painful, but quick... and they resulted in healthy babies and wonderful children! Epidurals don't seem to work well for me. I know in my first labor, I was SO glad to have taken Lamaze classes. The breathing (and my mom) really helped me to stay on top of things. Losing control of the pain is really painful, if that makes any sense. My second epidural wasn't much better, but my labor was even shorter. I had Liah in 5.5 hours and Dylan in about 4. So, maybe this baby will only take 3 hours or so??? Hah! That just seems so FAST! I would really like to "enjoy" childbirth more this time. I actually am looking forward to it. Tommy is so loving and gentle with me. He really does baby me, and I'm sure he'll be there for me more so emotionally than was my ex. I anticipate it being a sweet time together. He is just as excited as I am.
I visited with my parents this weekend, and they offered to keep Liah and Dylan until they come up to see us on Christmas Eve morning. My ex-husband is also getting to see the kids for a bit before Christmas. Although I'm missing my kids, I am getting some well-deserved rest and am also being allowed the time I need to finish wrapping gifts and cleaning the house in anticipation of the crowd we will have for Christmas. We are so glad that our family will all be together on Christmas Day! My mom and dad are coming up, as well as my Mom's parents (I haven't shared Christmas with these grandparents since I was four years old.) And we will have all of Tommy's kids with us too! Unfortunately, Tommy's parents aren't able to be here. But we are so thankful to have all of our family (especially our kids) together on Christmas Day! I will have to take a picture of our tree. It's cute - you can tell all of the ornaments that Liah and Dylan put on, all clustered around the bottom. And the presents!!! Since we will have all of us here, I brought all the presents from my mom's house to our house when I came home yesterday. Plus the gifts from Tommy's family, which have been stored in our closet since we went to visit them weeks ago. Plus the gifts from Tommy and I to everyone else. Plus the gifts from my grandparents. Keep in mind that we have five children right now, and that is a lot of gifts! I am just so truly thankful for all that we have and for our family. It looks so festive and so full of love in our living room, and really puts me in the Christmas spirit.
At my last midwife appointment, it was verified that, barring any complications such as an unprepared cervix, we will be inducing on February 4th. It's pretty likely that it will be all systems go at that point, and it is only six weeks away! Wow! We are anxious to meet Baby Jay. A good friend of mine has a baby shower planned for January 10th. Right now, we have a cradle, and a car seat, and enough clothes for a couple of weeks. I plan on breastfeeding Jay for his first year, so the only other thing I'll really *need* above that is a good breast pump. I am open to suggestions on this - please drop me a note on my TTM board if you have any personal experiences you'd like to share with certain breast pumps. I am leaning towards the Medela Pump In Style Traveler.
I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year!
