Cherylyn's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 24, 2001

27 weeks

Hello again. Here I go missing entries again. I just haven't had time to get on the computer lately. We have been really busy with work and class. I think it was last week that I sat down and thought we really don't have much time left. It really floors me that we are this far along and there is still so much to be done.

Well, our Childbirth Preparation Classes started three weeks ago. The fist class was information on what a newborn really looks like, what cradle cap looks like, what their poops should look like, and car safety. Really exciting stuff! So basically an information class. Last week we did infant CPR and how to avoid doing CPR all together. I still need to practice on that because it needs to be automatic if it should ever need to be done. I don't know that I would remember if it was my child no matter how much it was second nature. I think I would really panic so I plan to be an incredibly watchful parent. Of course we all say that but then you turn your back for a second and everything changes. Yesterday's class was about nutrition in pregnancy, danger signs in pregnancy, and we started our breathing techniques. The coaches had to do the breathing too which makes it easier since my husband isn't staring at me just watching like he was last week. (Since my husband is on the fire department and is a first responder he has to be certified on all types of CPR every year so he just went to support me last week.) I can't say whether I think these techniques will work but at least I will have something to concentrate on besides the contractions. I gave this over view because I always wanted to know what really went on at the classes and most people don't talk about it. So for anyone out there reading who is like me, there you go!

Aubrey loves the classes! On any other morning she will move but not constantly. All three Monday she has moved constantly throughout class. It is just neat to be sitting there and talking about babies and here she is reminding me that this is for real. I almost hit a raccoon the other night and that adrenaline rush crossed over and she started kicking me as soon as I exhaled the first time. I guess I never thought about things like that before. I just find every day that I am learning things or thinking about things in a different way. I am loving this journey! Well with the warmer temperatures here in the Midwest the swelling has begun. It really helps to drink lots of water and to elevate my feet at night. Sometimes though you just can't help it and it happens anyway.

Well, I am going to go now. Enjoy your week. My next dr appt is on Thursday so I will update with anything new.
