Introduction
7 weeks old - Merry Christmas!!
First off, I want to say what a WONDERFUL husband I have :) I thought we were going to celebrate my birthday last week with our friends. We went to their house, had a margarita, and then I learned that Earl had arranged for them to babysit while the two of us went out for a nice dinner alone. It was so nice! Of course, all we talked about was the baby and we both felt like we left something somewhere, but it was great!
We decided last minute to take a trip over the weekend. We drove up to northeastern Tennessee and visited The Iron Mountain Inn (www.ironmountaininn.com) Alyssa had a rough time the first night (up 2 or 3 times, I can't remember!) but settled back into her routine of up once for the next two nights. We got home yesterday and she was in basically the same pattern - up to eat at 9:30pm, 3am, and 7:30am. Earl and I have asked her for a night of straight sleep for Christmas... I'll let everyone know if we get it! At any rate, our trip was nice. We couldn't believe how much STUFF we had to take! Time to get a van I think...
On the 21st, we got up for breakfast and put Alyssa down on a quilt on the floor on her tummy. She wriggled for a minute, then got up on her side and flipped over! Earl and I looked at each other and said "Did she just roll over?" Yep! And she did it again the next day. She's gotten really good at pushing her chest up with her elbows and holding her head up to look around. I can't believe how fast she is growing. Today she really began "talking" to us. And she's had three baths with me in the big tug - she LOVES them!
We had friends over for Christmas Eve dinner last night and then enjoyed a quiet Christmas with just the three of us.
Remember those skinny arms and legs I said Alyssa had? GONE! She is a chubby girl now! Guess those couple of days of 6 oz. at every feeding were going towards this latest development. She's a cutie though :) I'm posting some more pictures of her on her website photo gallery at http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/a/alyssabrookec
I'm waiting to hear that Leslie has had Claudia! Hang in there Leslie, she'll be here in no time! And then Lara will have Erin to show off! YEAH!!
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
