First of all, I would like to apologize for asking Megan to make everyone wait so long to hear the details about our new baby, but - I couldn’t help it, I have waited for this moment for a LONG time! ; ) We just came home from the hospital and since the baby is sleeping, I figured I’d get in a quick update now and save a complete birth story for later in the week. That said, I am so incredibly happy to announce that after what could be considered one of the easiest deliveries on the planet - we have a beautiful baby BOY!
His name is Cameron Blake Chappelle and as Megan posted on my board, he was born March 15, 2002 at 3:31 p.m. He weighed 6 lbs, 12 oz and was 19 1/4 inches long. I will admit here and now that I was sure I was having a girl all this time, as I am sure most of you could tell. I can also say that having a son, as short a time as this has been, is the most amazing thing in the world, he is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to us, and probably that ever will (aside from future children of course). For all the women out there who have ever said there is nothing like a mother’s love for her son, I have to say that I cannot think of a statement more true and I have often found myself wondering these past few days if I could love anything more than I love this little boy. There is absolutely NOTHING in this world like having our own son! We are thrilled and the best part of all, he is completely normal, healthy and happy. And of course, we think he is beautiful. :)
Thanks to all of you who posted your love and support, your emails and phone calls of good wishes. I will post a birth story later in the week, along with pictures on our webpage. Until then, all the best and all our love.
