Dawn's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 3, 2003

Today had to be one of the greatest days of my life. It was our baby shower. I have dreamed about having one for a long time and honestly I never thought I would be able to have one.

You get a little negative after trying so long and going to everybody else's baby shower but your own.

The day seemed to be like my wedding, very magical but way to fast. We had around 45 of our closest friends and family there. The theme was "under the sea" just like your nursery. The colors were pink and white for baby girl. The food was TERRIFIC, a chicken breast with a little bit of an orange flavored sauce on top, carrots and green beans in this buttery sauce, some type of mashed potato, rolls, and the dessert was of course cake which your grandma made. It was so yummy, 1/2 banana cake split with custard and bananas and the other 1/2 of the cake was white split with fresh strawberries. Mom's friend Lori who helped to give the shower and is a professional photographer and she took pictures. I am so excited to get them back. Your papa brought the digital camera and took lots of pictures for your web site.

After eating we began to open gifts. You got lots of stuff. The best thing was you have about 40 books to start your library. We asked people to pick their favorite book instead of a card. It turned out really neat. Everyone wrote a special message to you in their book that they choose to give. I know it is something you will treasure, as you get older. I opened gifts for almost 2 hours. By the time I was done opening gifts I was tired. My feet looked like Fred Flinstone but I loved every moment of it.

After you shower it took 3 mini vans to get all your stuff back home. Thank goodness we had about 10 immediate family members to help. After it was all in we sat there going through it. I was really surprised you didn't get that many doubles. When we finally finished going through all your gifts everybody left and your mommy sat on the couch with her feet up. I was on cloud nine and couldn't help but staring at everything you got.

On Monday morning I went to Babies R Us and returned what doubles we had and used our gift certificates to purchase anything else we needed. I am happy to say, we almost have everything. I am going to order your crib today. Then everything will be ready for you. Your crib was not so important to order because we have a cradle for you to sleep in. You will be there next to mom for the first few months.

I have all of your Thank yous written and sent out. My goal was to have them done by the end of the week and I succeeded in having them done by Wednesday. YEA MOMMY ;)

We are almost there little one... 26 days left till our due date.

Belly Rubs and Baby Dust to everyone,
Dawn and Baby
