As I said in my last entry, we had our BIG sonogram last Friday. So without further delay, I would like to announce that we are having a Camryn Elizabeth!!! I had started having those feelings about a week ago that it was a girl. I was so sure that I rearranged the two rooms and made one a room with the girl's beds and dressers in it, and the other a playroom. I also bought bedding, but didn't open it until after it was confirmed. Onto the appointment ...
Kirt and I had bet a $1 each for the sex we thought it was. Of course, I borrowed the dollar from him, so I actually won two bucks! HaHa! The technician is a really great guy, and since this was my third sonogram this pregnancy, he knew who we were. He showed me the "parts" and told us, "It's a girl." Baylie said, "I knew it was a sister." We all had to laugh. She HAD been telling me the whole time it was a sister. Kirt asked if there was any small chance it could still be a boy that he cold hold onto, but the tech said, "Not when there's a vagina involved." So, I suppose he was absolutely sure!
We met with the doctor afterward. It was Kirt's first time to meet her. He said that he really likes her, too. The heartbeat was strong and slow. All the other times it was up in the high 160s, but that day it was more like the low 150s which I thought was strange since I drank a Coke to make sure the baby would be moving enough to see all her parts. It's a good thing we had found out it was a girl because I may have started doubting my intuition after seeing the heart rate lower.
I called three friends from the office in between the two appointments because I had to tell SOMEONE! Then we went to my mom's to tell her. She was happy for us. After that I posted online and e-mailed my good buddies. We set off after that to go to San Antonio where Kirt's grandpa was still visiting my mother-in-law. It was nice for Baylie to tell everyone. It made her feel like it was her news and people were more excited because it came from a cute kid. I also wanted to get down on paper that I finally popped out. I was in jeans at the beginning of last week that I hadn't worn for a while. Then by Friday I had to pull out the maternity clothes! It was so sudden. I saw my mom on Monday and again on Friday and she couldn't believe how different my tummy looked. At my doctor's appointment I weighed in with a total of 9 pounds lost, so I know it wasn't due to a sudden weight gain. I do have more of an appetite and lots more energy now. That's enough for one week, huh?
