34 weeks, 1 day
I had a doctor appointment this morning. I am happy to report I am now going EVERY WEEK! That's so exciting! Soon I'll be holding this little sweetheart.
I am concerned with the findings at my appointment though. First, I gained 3 pounds this week. I have now gained 5 pounds total. I'm not worried about the weight so much as the amount in one week. It seemed strange to have a jump like that. Second, my blood pressure is usually around 120/60. Last time it was 104/70. This time it was 132/84. I asked the nurse if that sounded high to her too, and she said it is on the high end of normal. The doctor asked if I had any swelling, which I haven't. She told me if I noticed any to come in so they could check it and that I could go to labor and delivery any time day or night to check swelling or blood pressure.
I was waiting with a couple of other women to check out when the doctor said "Dawn, what did you eat for breakfast?" I was so embarassed when I had to say "Apple Jacks". Geez. I know I'm an adult, but they are so yummy! Then she said to come back to get my blood drawn because I had protein in my urine. I told her I ate at 7:30-7:45 this morning and she said we definantly need to check then. (It had been almost four hours.) My results are due back on Monday.
My doctor's great, but very calm. So sometimes I feel like I don't get answers because she's "protecting" me in some way from worrying. So, I called Missy and asked her what she thought of what happened, and she said to watch for swelling, because it sounded like I could be developing toxemia. She had it at 41 weeks, and they sent her straight to the hospital and induced labor. She said she's never know anyone who had it so early. Everyone she knows had to be delivered, but they were far enough along that it was safe. I just don't know what to think. If I'm going to swell it'll be tomorrow because I have to be on my feet a lot for a luncheon, carnival/festival, then dinner (one last time) with a couple of friends. So I guess we'll see... i think I'm going to try and read about toxemia and see if there's anything I can do to help things.
Other than that, I'm measuring 37 weeks, and Cami's heart rate was 159. She was hard to get, although she's still head down, so I got a little nervous. But once Dr. P found it, it was loud and strong.
