Dawn L's Diary Entries

May 28, 2001

37weeks, 4 days

Well, we had to make a trip to Labor and Delivery last night. I felt strange all day, even when we went swimming. It was nice to be in the pool, but I could still feel that my tummy was really tight. Anyway, we went to my Mom's to play dominoes with Mom and the Chenualts and the Lucases. When we were cleaning up the toys, I started feeling REALLY bad. I was having pains every 4-6 minutes that took my breath away. So we went home since all of our stuff was there. I called the doctor on call and she told me to come in immediately since the baby's breech. She also told me that if I was in labor I would have to have a c-section.

When we arrived the nurse said "The doctor said we're going to do this, so you need take off your jewelry. Do you have any other studs we need to know about?" She pointed to her tongue then belly. I said "No, just my husband." He turned red. HeeHee! I thought it was funny. I told her the doctor told me we were only having the section if I was in labor, so she left to get clarification. Apparently she just misunderstood her. Thank God. The nurse checked me and I wasn't having contractions any more, I hadn't dialated at all, so I was told I could go home. I did get to have a brief sonogram to make sure she was still head up. She was. She was even sucking her little thumb. It was sweet, but I thought "Oh great. ANOTHER thumbsucker!" We knew Baylie was a thumbsucker due to a sonogram too. I don't have the heart to make her quit. It's so sweet.

The nurse also said she's never heard of Dr Parr trying to do a version to turn the baby, so I hope that that doesn't mean she won't try and we have to do a c-section automatically. We'll find out tomorrow at our appointment and I'll write another entry with the details.

I'm not as scared about the version or c-section because I know that my faith in God and my doctor will help me get through everything. We'll do what's best for both of us and we'll be fine. I can't wait to see and hold my sweet baby. At the most it'l be next Tuesday!
