Well, I’m busy packing our overnight bag as we’re about to go to a little
spa-town about 120 kms away for the weekend. It’s our first wedding
anniversary on Sunday and we were married at this little spa town so we’re
heading back for a romantic weekend of evening drinks by an open fire,
gourmet dining, bush walks rugged up in cosy coats and reminiscing.
We’re going to our home-town Sunday afternoon since it’s Mother’s Day and it’s only half an hour away form the town where we’re staying. We’ll pop in on my mother and - wait for it - I’m contemplating telling her our news! Believe it or not, I’m eleven weeks pregnant and we still haven’t told a soul. I’m still not entirely sure I want to at all! Somehow it’ll make the whole thing too real. I’m tempted to put it off so we’ll see. I know my mother will be over the moon. She’s only got the one grandchild and she desperately wants another. She adores babies! It’d be nice to tell her but - well…
JK found out a few weeks ago that he’s got some work in Brisbane for six weeks so we’ll be jetting off next weekend. Brisbane is interstate - about 1600 kms north. Fantastic I reckon - it’ll be a very mild winter indeed. And it’s great to live somewhere else for a while - a complete break from our normal life and routine. It’s on the coast and I believe there are some lovely islands and beaches within about 100 km radius of the city so we’ll do some fabulous sight-seeing on the weekends. It’s great being a writer - my work is as portable as our little lap-top computer. Only drag is I won’t have access to the Internet. I’ll have to hunt down an Internet café so I can keep posting my journal entries.
Have my first hospital appointment next Thursday. My doctor wants me to have an ultrasound because I’ll be away for six weeks and she thinks we’d better find out that everything is okay before I disappear. Fingers crossed that all it well. I certainly expect everything to be fine. But you can see my dilemma - I could easily not tell anyone about this pregnancy til we return from Brisbane in seven weeks - they won’t be able to see my burgeoning tummy so why tell?
Until next week, all the best,
Eloise
