Well, I'm very excited today so I won't stop for long. My husband is due back from two weeks away. I can't wait to see him, we've been counting down the days 'til we'll be back together. It feels like my right hand is about to be restored; life will resume some kind of normality and blissfulness again now - after seven weeks when we were both away from home and an extra two for JK!
I had my ultrasound scan late last week. Wow, what an experience! The scan went for about ¾ of an hour, and the baby wriggled, squirmed, tossed it's arms above it's head and did 360 degree somersaults as I watched, amazed. Everything is perfect - thank goodness - and I am now the proud owner of a beautiful ultrasound photo which I've framed and sat on my mantelpiece, and a video - which hubby can't wait to come home and watch! The photo is amazing - a relatively clear profile of baby's head - you can make out a set of perfect full lips, chin, nose, a little hand. WOW! JK wants to have the photo scanned and shrunk so he can carry a copy in his wallet - he's such a softie!
So the woman performing the ultrasound said she gets one baby like mine a day - highly active and consequently hard to ultrasound. She literally had to chase the little mite around my belly to get all the information she needs. And wow, they check so much, kidneys, cerebellum, heart chambers, spine... Amazing. I knew it was an active baby - I feel kicks and squirming and pummelling over and over, all day - and night - long. And watching the little mite on ultrasound confirmed my suspicions - a gymnast in the making!
Found out the baby's sex. But it's a big surprise for absolutely everyone except JK and I. We're not telling anyone, despite fervent pleas from my eight-year-old niece, and others. Actually most people seem happy not to know, I think they enjoy the surprise element, so I'm happy not to tell. Let's hope I don't accidentally let the cat out of the bag in the next 19 weeks. Wow, I'm now officially past the half way mark. Hallelujah!
Hope everyone out there in cyberspace is well and happy.
Until next week, all the best,
Eloise
