13 weeks, 27 weeks to go! EDD 6-07-00

Hello everyone!

Well, I had a wonderful weekend. My DH's parents spent the weekend with us, as a little stop on their road trip to Texas. We had great time with them, and of course the kids just adored having Nanny and Grampy for a couple days at least! I am very blessed that I have such special in-laws... when the baby is born, they will be driving down from NY, spending a little time with us, and then taking the three older ones back for two weeks! How did I get so lucky?

Things are going really well with the pregnancy. I'm almost at (or at, depending on who you talk to) my second trimester, and I feel so much better, it's amazing! All the nausea is completely gone, and although I am tired, I can still stay up later than I was before. I feel that 'glow' that everyone says you have from day one, but you don't see until month three or four! It's nice to feel alive again!

Because I have been tired, though, I suspect that I may be low on iron. I stopped taking my prenatals a while back, because they were really upsetting my stomach, and I haven't gotten back into the routine. I also don't eat a lot of iron-rich foods, so I am going to make more of an effort to take those vitamins and see what happens. It could just be that I have three kids to take care of, and nothing more!

You may have a noticed a jump in my weeks, from last week's entry to this week's. It seems I was calculating wrong... I went to this site's weekly and monthly calculator and was much more encouraged by the weeks they listed! In fact, I will be starting month four at the end of this week. Amazing! Okay, now it seems to be going a little faster!

Still not in maternity clothes, which is a little unbelievable for me. I was able to wear my regular jeans this weekend, and comfortably. I'm glad, because I'd rather look really pregnant when I wear the maternity stuff, than just fat! In fact, the other night, my husband said to me, "Well, you really don't look very pregnant yet." "No, I just look fat, right?" I asked. And he agreed!!! Men! Will they ever learn??? : )

I got an interesting e-mail from a new friend who asked if I'd ever considered a homebirth. I thought this was a really good question, and I was interested in all the information she provided me with. It's not something I really ever thought about before, at least not seriously. She gave me a website to go to, so I think I'll check it out. I don't think I'm leaning towards a homebirth or anything, especially since we are living in an apartment right now, but since our insurance situation is still so iffy, I don't want to close the door on any of my options. Having had three hospital births, all induced, I know all the pros and cons. But I want to make the choice that I am comfortable with, no matter what it ends up being!

This week promises to be a busy one for me. My best friends and their four children will be driving down from NY to spend Thanksgiving and the weekend with us. I am really looking forward to it, and am so glad that I can cook and bake up a storm!

Well, I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter what you do to celebrate the day. We all have so much to be thankful for! Have a great week!

Hugs,

Heather
