Jenni's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

*34 weeks*
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!!
Not too much to report in this entry but I thought I would jot a few things down.
*Body Changes*
I am starting to look and feel pretty pregnant. I have noticed myself starting to waddle a little when I walk and sometimes putting my hand in the middle of my back for counter balance. It is getting pretty comical to watch me bend over also! Eric is so sweet and is constantly telling me how beautiful I look and how fun it is to be able to look at me and know I am pregnant. I still feel like I look like I have 2 stomachs because the baby is pretty high up and I have my own regular tummy below...looks sort of weird!
*Baby Shower*
My mom and one of her friends are planning a nice shower for me on April 6th. I am pretty excited. There are going to be quite a few people there and it is going to be a joint, co-ed, shower for both Eric and I. It is going to be pretty non-traditional, sort of an open house type thing instead of a traditional shower but I think it will be very fun!!
*Child-birth education*
Our last class is this week. I have really enjoyed going to the classes, as has Eric. It has been a nice time for us to be together and focus on our baby and to get excited over the fact that he will be here so soon. Eric is turning into a great coach and is so supportive of everything we are learning.
We also took a breastfeeding class last week. The class was very informative and gave me lots of pointers to help make breastfeeding work for all of us. Eric came with me, and even though he was the only daddy there, he says he enjoyed it and learned a lot
*Doctor's appt. update and some concerns*
I had another appt today and everything went okay. I was pretty concerned because I have noticed a lot of swelling the last few days. I weighed myself at work Friday, then again on Saturday because I felt bloated and I was 5 pounds heavier on Saturday...the weight came mostly off my Sunday but I am still pretty swollen. I also took my BP at work and it was a bit high for me on Saturday but okay again on Sunday. My doctor said that I should keep monitoring the swelling and my BP and let him know if I am concerned again.
My BP was fine today and I was only 4 pounds up from my appt 2 weeks ago. I also had no protein in my urine (a sign of pre-eclampsia if there was protein).
My doctor was so supportive of my questions and concerns but I think he is starting to see what kind of freak I really am!!
I love being a nurse, but I think that knowing all of the things that could go wrong and the symptoms involved is making me over-think a lot of the symptoms I have! I am just so worried that something is going to go wrong and I keep imagining all of the things that could be happening. We tried so hard to get to this point (fertility drugs, treating my tumor...) and I am freaked our that something bad will happen!
I am working on relaxation techniques to get my mind off of the things that could go wrong but probably won't! I am focusing on all of the good things that are happening and the fact that Carson will be here in just over 6 weeks or so!!
For anyone reading this...thanks for listening to my crazy feelings and concerns!!
I hope everyone has a great week!
Hugs
Jen and Carson (due 5/2/03)
