This entry is not about the pregnancy, which is progressing fine. This is about our son, Ivan.
Something is wrong with him, and we have taken him to the pediatrican three times in the past week and a half. Blood work indicates that there is a problem with his red blood cells, and he is severely anemic. He's undergone further testing, and we are just waiting for the results.
How he got this anemic so quickly (he was just tested 4 or 5 months ago), and why his red blood cells are horribly small is still a mystery. We have to wait and see, but it is agonizing to do so. In the meantime, we are giving him an iron supplement that is equivalent to 500% of his daily allowance if he were normal. We have to work very quickly to get his iron levels back up.
Additionally, he may be suffering from sort of developmental delay. He will be assessed for that October 2nd.
With all that has happened recently, I feel like I've been put through the wringer, and I don't think any amount of cheering up will make me feel like writing a regular entry.
We are not religious at all; I'm somewhat spiritual, and believe in "something", but I would appreciate it for people to keep us in their thoughts.
