Just a quick update. I'm still very much pregnant. I asked my midwives to check for dilation yesterday at my regular appointment, and they did. I am 1-2 cms dilated, 60% effaced. Not bad. It's about what I was at when I went into labor with Ivan. Still haven't lost my mucus plug, but I know it could happen at any time and then labor could be right around the corner. Or not. :(
In other big, pregnancy-related news, my midwives and their practice are being featured in a Japanese TV show (similar to Dateline, from my understanding). The film crew wanted to film a water birth for the show, but the woman they had planned on filming ended up having her baby in the lobby!!! So, they were looking for someone else, and asked me. John and I agreed, as the film crew is very respectful and everything will be edited for primetime Japanese TV. So, we're going to be "stars" in a whole other country!
Ivan had dental surgery on Monday, and has had some complications from that. It appears that he has a blood infection from the surgery, but I think we are starting to get it under control. Poor kid. Nothing is ever easy for him.
Last night his fever hit 105.5, and we rushed him to the ER. The doctor there annoyed me. He started in on this whole "How do you know he's autistic?" thing, and frankly, I didn't think that was at all his place to do that. He questioned us about his specialists, his symptoms, etc. We had just told the staff because we wanted them to be prepared for how he may have acted or reacted during treatment. But I didn't think it was his job to start in on that - we were there for the fever, not his autism. He kept asking about it until finally Ivan threw up all over him. Poetic justice, I say.
To top it off, the ER doc thought Ivan had an ear infection and misdiagnosed him. We took him to his regular pediatrician this morning. She figured out that it is probably a blood infection and that Ivan's ears are fine. We gave him a strong dose of antibiotics to help. We'll go back tomorrow and Friday for more shots to help, and hopefully, that will be the end of that.
In truth, I'm glad "Bajellie" has held off for a few more days. It would have been horrible to deal with poor Ivan AND a new baby in the house all at once. Of course, she can feel free to come any time now. :)
