Expert Q&A
Question:
Is it normal to have a little discharge from your nipples in very early stages of pregnancy? I don't hear alot of women express this symptom. I also had dried and crusted film over my nipples. Sometimes there is a tingle or a somewhat burning sensation in my nipples. Are all these normal signs in early pregnancy?
Answer:
Tingling and a burning or stretching sensation in the breasts is quite commonly reported as the breasts enlarge during pregnancy. Discharge from the nipples is more common late in pregnancy, but it may also be normal in early pregnancy.

Even so, any change in the breasts and any nipple discharge require evaluation by a health care provider who can determine whether the changes are normal or whether testing needs to done.
