Expert Q&A
Question:
I want to decorate my baby's room in Dr. Seuss characters but have not seen any items such as wallpaper, borders, sheets etc. Do you know if these items exist?
Answer:

The Dr. Seuss estate has not yet licensed any home decorating products for the Dr. Seuss line of characters. If you want to create a nursery with Dr. Seuss as a theme, you will need to draw on your own creativity. What fun!

If the budget allows, this is a wonderful opportunity to do a custom wall mural or have some custom paintings made. If the budget does not allow for that, you might consider purchasing several of your favorite books to be cut up and use as art which you could frame, hang straight on the wall or decoupage onto the furniture. There are also several "life-size" Dr. Seuss puzzles which could be assembled and mounted on cardboard and used to decorate the walls.

With regard to color schemes, Dr Seuss's ABC's has a many different colors, Hop On Pop and Green Eggs and Ham are primarily greens, yellows and red-oranges, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish has a lot of blue and red, as does the very popular book from 1957, The Cat In The Hat -- although they are different hues of red and blue.

How can you use this in your home? As an example, imagine your nursery wallpapered on three walls with a bright yellow and white stripe wallpaper to match the yellows in Hop On Pop. Paint the fourth wall a paler shade of the yellow of the stripe in the wallpaper and create a custom mural of Dr. Seuss characters complete with their antics in yellows, greens, oranges and red oranges. Install a bright green carpet. The baby's crib and other furniture is white with a green and yellow check custom bumper guard and matching valances on the windows. The rocking chair is also white with a floral print fabric in green/ yellow and orange. There may be a window seat, which has a cushion in the check with multiple pillows in the floral, check and a solid green to match the carpet. Custom paint two or three other pictures of the characters from the mural to be framed and hung on the other walls. Don't forget to add accessories like the Dr. Seuss wall calendar and a bookshelf with a selection of Seuss books to read to your little one.

The room you create will be the perfect cheerful setting for a very happy baby.
