Home offices have been dramatically increasing. Corporate downsizing, changing lifestyle trends and the use of the computer have redefined the work force and where work is preformed. Individuals starting new businesses are seeking ways to create less stressful and more cost effective environments in which to work. Mothers are looking for ways to be home with their young children. Two challenges when creating a home office are separation of office space from living space and providing functional task oriented space in what is usually very limited space. Reduced family living space which results from these changes can result in a storage space crisis for the household. Traffic flow patterns and privacy can be a problem. Setting boundaries, both physical and emotional, will assist in the separation issues. The use of custom built in cabinetry versus standard office furniture can maximize the space available and create functional work space.
Making your home office attractive with pleasing wall and floor coverings, art, accessories and plants is important to one's overall sense of well being, self esteem and ultimate success. Good luck in creating your SPECIAL SPACE for work.
